"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, Who is in you, Whom you have received from God? ... So use every part of your body to give glory back to God..." 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

New Years day Run.

Every Christmas for years Andy has written me a "Christmas letter". This letter usually takes a glance back over the year describing me, him and our year together.  This year looking back was described perfectly by my husband "Andy":

".......It seem as the last 2 months have cast a shadow over the previous 10 months. I can hardly remember the "happy" events or the obstacles I often write about that you and I have conquered over the last 12 months....
It really sucks, I know that we had to overcome some obstacles and I know we had some huge happy memories last year. I know we had challenges: we had changes and the usual moments that I have reflected on in previous Christmas letters. But, damn it Nita, I cannot seem to bring them to memory. The only thing I can reflect on tonight as I type and as I reflect is how hard it had been to see you go through this."

And just like that 10 months of victories, triumphs, laughter, challenges and ultimately a incredible year can get destroyed, devastated and diminished by the loss of a loved one. The loss of Ariel, my dear niece, the niece I took to like my daughter.

Looking back at 2012 as a RUNNER this is what my training looked like:

MILES I logged in 2012: 1800 miles
Most miles logged in a month: 204 miles- May

My New Years Resolution for 2012 were
Interpersonal:
  • To get up with Andy every morning and see him off to work- ACCOMPLISHED!
  • Continue to Reading through the old testament -ACCOMPLISHED
RUNNING:
  • To enjoy running again. To do new Races and Fun Races
  "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."  Jeremiah29:11-13
New Years Resolutions for 2013:
Interpersonal:
  • Get more responsible: Less procrastinating
  • Continue with last years goals underachieved and achieved.
RUNNING:
  • Work on speed a little more.
  • More cross training
  I thought of all those who shared their new years resolutions with me last year. And as I reviewed my resolutions from last year I see some that I did not accomplish, 2012 resolutions.

Great thing are RE DO'S!! I try not to focus on the goals underachieved rather recognize that I have another year and I am grateful for the opportunity to try again!!

Today Danielle and I chatted about our goals for 2013 on our run through Fenton. Somewhere in the midst of getting lost, running through peoples backyards and jumping fences we shared our goals. We laughed so hard as we got lost through a neighborhood and could not figure out how to get on the right side of the highway. (Trying not to pee my pants from laughing so hard or fall and "break something" we had to climb a fence to another fence and jump over into the Target parking lot.) We not only had individual goals we also have goals that could be accomplished even easier with one another.
I look forward to trying to help Danielle with hers and I am so thankful to have her next to me to help encourage me with mine.

After running our 7 miles I headed to get the boys some bagels at Tim Hortons. With a breath of fresh air in my lungs I thought how I could bring in the New Year. My run had me already on cloud nine so as I was going through the drive thru I got the idea to buy the girls coffee behind me. It was a great idea till the bill came to almost 5 dollars! Well I couldn't back out so I just gave the worker my card and a smile. Happy New Year.

Goals you can set for 2013 for Running:
  • Speed..get faster, PR
  • Run a race in a different state
  • Increase your Miles..Select a goal in miles
  • Run your first 5k, 10k, half marathon, or Marathon
What Are your New Years Resolutions??
Do You set Goals? or do you not believe in them? Why?
DID YOU accomplish LAST years GOALS??? Nina, Maria, Linda...all those who shared with me last year???

PLEASE SHARE: There is power in sharing. It makes the "Idea" gravitate to a Verbalized Goal. Do not be afraid, Do not be shy. Share. I accomplished some Goals and some I did not. But I tried. And Again this year I will try Again.

~~~~~~~~~~
Thank you for the prayers. Today was a little better of a day. I was thankful for great company today. "Ali" and "Sarah" my niece came over. It was so nice. I have not really wanted to be around people and their company was like medicine to me heart. We watched a goofy movie (Pitch Perfect) and found ourselves cheese balling!
    1. Michelle,
      These are all so incredible. I think you have inspired me yet another goal..to find a race you are going to be at and run that one too! I have always wanted to run the Martian. And running more than 26.2 miles is a secret goal of mine...Hmm you have my wheels turning! I would love to get to meet you at one of these or any other race.
      I look forward to seeing you accomplish every one~
    2. The Martian is TERRIBLE! It's an out and back on a closed course. I did Toledo last year and it was really really good. Columbia City is my fave, if you like traveling to Fort Wayne to run hills :) Would be great to meet you!
    3. This is good to know about the Martian! I will have to look into these runs. I have to do races on Sundays because unfortunately I work every Saturday. I love running new races though and I am ready for something out of Michigan!
  2. Anita, Just want you to know i really admire how in touch with who you are and what you are beliefs. The Marathon running is so Awesome, but really probably a release for you, meaning it probably hurt who are not to run than to run? I know it's like that for me. But to see what you've accomplished and done and always trying to be better is amazing. On top of your Mother and Wife duties and your spiritual faith in Christ. You make great example for weaker ppl like myself. I feel sad i couldn't make to see the family over the holidays and don't like how we're so distant either and this has to stop. But you just thinking of me made my Christmas wish you only knew. i could go on and on because you make it flow! But just want you to know how much i Love You! Vincent
    1. Vincent,
      I think about you and your boys often. I pray for all of you. It is crazy...Physically we can be so strong and accomplished. And if judged on appearance we can display a vision of strength and confidence yet inside...deep inside our very soul lies brokenness. Disappointments, discouragements, mistakes and they hijack our our goals and visions for ourselves.
      I look at you similar to how I look at "Bob". I see greatness. I see people who shine and glow. I see a World that no only wants to own them...a world that also needs their story, their talents, their strengths....and weaknesses.
      "Do not be conformed to this world but be transoformed by a renewing of your mind..."
      You have a story like none other. You have been through battles like no other..I think it is inspiring.
      Thank you for your kind words. It truly is God. "In my Weakness he is strong."
      A great goal for 2013 is to make a time to see one another.
      I love you.
  3. THANK YOU ANITA FOR BEING WHO YOU ARE. YOUR STRENGTHS AND YOUR BEING WILLING TO BE VULNERABLE HELPS MANY,INCLUDING ME! YES I DID ACCOMPLISH SOME OF MY GOALS LAST YEAR AND FAILED IN OTHERS. I did sign up for half marathon again. I DONT KNOW IF I WILL RUN(I WANT TO SO BAD)I MIGHT WALK/RUN. LAST YEAR MY FEET AND ANKLES HURT. EVERY MORNING WHEN I GOT UP IT TOOK ME A WHILE TO WALK WITHOUT PAIN.THIS YEAR I WANT TO STRENGTH TRAIN 3 TIMES A WEEK WITH MY WALK/RUN. I ALSO WANT TO LEARN ABOUT FASTING. THE LORD HAS BEEN DEALING WITH ME FOR ALONG TIME IN SAYING NO TO THE FLESH. I FEEL LIKE ALOT OF THE STRONGHOLDS IN MY LIFE CANNOT BE BROKEN WITHOUT PRAYING AND FASTING.IVE BEEN SAYING NO TO GOD FOR ALONG TIME ON THIS. SO IM GOING TO HAVE TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO FIT THAT IN WORKOUT ROUTINE.FINALLY I TOO WOULD LIKE TO READ OLD TESTAMENT THRU. GOD BLESS AND MAY THIS BE YOUR BEST YEAR EVER!!! LOVE, LINDA
