The 3 C's of Life and Oranges.
Tuesdays may be an off day for me when it comes to running but it is NOT a rest day. Tuesdays are my busiest day of the week.
After working all day I had to run to the school for a Cross Country meeting and then run back to school for one more client.
Tuesday nights I facilitate a support group meeting. It is designed to support those who have loved ones struggling with addiction.
It pains me to see so many struggling with addiction. Those of us that have loved one are as sick as our loved ones addicted.
I spoke to a group earlier this week and discovered more than 75% of those that I spoke to have someone very close to them addicted.
I was speaking to a group of mothers. The topic I was asked to speak on was addiction.
We as a society have become so desensitized by addiction that we have accepted it as normal. All the chaos that it breeds we have just accepted. Most of us just laugh it off, ignore it or poke fun at it.
Well it is killing not just people but families.
It is tearing children from their parents, breaking marriages up, confusing families and like cancer affecting everyone involved.
It pains me to see addiction poo poo-ed. It pains me even more to see tears shed week after week over the hostages of addiction.
Mothers, friends, wives, fathers confused and full of loss. As this world moves forward breeding more addiction and down playing it as normal.
IT is NOT Normal.
Eating oranges and trying to recover from the brokenness.

So sad, how wonderful that you are such a strong voice for them! Carri~A Running bee
ReplyDeleteThank You Carri. It is so sad that so many people are effected and just live the chaos. It is generational. IT hurts so bad to see people "OK" with it.
